The Thai Netflix series Bangkok Love Stories: Innocence suddenly vanished from the site I noticed this morning.
ReplyDeleteThe three other Thai Netflix series Bangkok Love Stories: Hey You and Bangkok Love Stories: Plead and Bangkok Love Stories: Objects of Affection remain (for now).
It’s back!
Deletedepeliar
ReplyDeleteCan't find that title on site.
Delete"de peliar" (two words) apparently means "to fight" in Spanish. Any clue what it was about since there's nothing I can find in Netflix that matches?
Delete
DeleteI don't believe we've heard from this reader before. I think there's either some misunderstanding about how our site works or more language barrier than we can overcome. Unless we get some clarification, I'm going to assume this is some kind of mistake.
What’s going on with Criminal Minds? It says expiring 8/15 but I can’t find it in any of the cancellation lists. I’m in they middle of the series right now, if Netflix cancels this then I cancel Netflix. Does anyone know?
ReplyDeleteNo, it's safe
Deletehttps://www.whats-on-netflix.com/news/criminal-minds-may-leave-netflix-in-2019/
DeleteAlthough this article is from Feb., it states two pertinent things:
One: "In 2018, the series failed to renew throughout the summer when it usually does. As of the time of publishing season 13 has still yet to reach Netflix in the United States and doesn’t seem to be coming. That also likely rules out the possibility of season 14 coming to Netflix too." [Per IMDB, Season 15 will be 2020; other sources say 15 is the final season.]
Two: "We’ve known for some time that CBS is transitioning away from using aggregate services like Netflix instead opting to put their shows exclusively on CBS All Access. ... Given the shows main addition date is in August, if we do see Criminal Minds leave it could be as early as August 2019."
DeleteI checked all 12 seasons; none have an expiration notice. If it was going to expire in August, the notice would be on already (unless Netflix screwed up, as they did with Pretty Little Liars). Below is the add history for Criminal Minds - note that none of the dates are in August as stated in the article referenced above.
Based on the history, I would guess the earliest we would see it leave would be the middle of September. If all seasons are leaving then, it should show up on My List in the next few days. If only some seasons leave, it won't show up at all - we'll have to keep checking each season for the notice.
History [date of change in seasons/number of seasons streaming/season years]:
09/15/2014: 9 Seasons (2005-2013)
10/01/2014: 8 Seasons (2005-2012)
10/08/2014: 10 Seasons (2015)
07/03/2016: 11 Seasons (2016)
07/01/2017: 12 Seasons (2017)
History is from New on Netflix USA: https://usa.newonnetflix.info/info/70153390
DeleteP.S. to thread originator Unknown: In your comment, you say, "It says expiring 8/15. . ." Where did you see that it's supposed to be expiring on 8/15? Thanks.
It said expired under my downloads. This morning it was expired but still on my list so I renewed the download and it doesn’t say expired anymore on my downloads. If expiring in September I should try to binge what I have left, I’m only in season 2!
DeleteThanks for the heads up!
DeleteThanks for your reply Anonymous/Unknown. I'll keep an eye on it.
Netflix has a time limit on downloads that is generally unrelated to the expiration date of its streaming titles. The time limit is often 3 to 4 weeks, although this may vary by titles. For example, I downloaded several episodes of the first season of Money Heist about 3 weeks ago which are now showing an expiration date in about a week. (The expiration date did not show up when I downloaded the episodes originally). Money Heist itself is not expiring, just the downloads. Just to confuse things, a downloaded title will always expire when the title is removed from Netflix so it is always worth checking to see if the title is being removed by Netflix by looking at the title on the Netflix page.. Amazon Prime has a similar time limit on downloads. Recently, I downloaded several episodes of Season 6 of Spiral and noticed that a downloaded episode expired within 24 hours of the time I began watching it.

DeleteThanks so much for this explanation, Wellesley72. It totally clears things up. I have never downloaded a title, so I was clueless. It's great to have so many of you knowledgeable Netflix-watchers out there.
I wonder when they are going to show movies that are going to expire at the end of the month?
ReplyDelete
DeleteOn the Netflix website: 8/25
On smart TVs, Roku, and some other apps: 8/18
On the monthly press release: most likely one day in the week of 8/19-8/23 (but only a partial list)
On this blog: Titles start showing up in comments on 8/18. We'll have them all by end of day 8/25.
DeleteP.S. Forgot to say that any press release titles not already in comments are usually put up by reliable reader will g on this blog, shortly after the press release hits the internet.
Always!
DeleteTomorrow is when Netflix shows some stuff that is going to expire at the end of the month?
DeleteYes as Carol explained in the comment above, new end-of-the-month titles will appear on some apps tomorrow and will start showing up in the comments here.
DeleteI don't know if this is an entirety appropriate place for this comment, but here goes... Donald Cried (2016) expired with short notice on Netflix 14 August, but if you missed it (as I did) it is currently available on Kanopy, the free-with-library-card streamer. --Josh.
ReplyDeleteFree with library card except in New York City, where they just cancelled it dammit.
DeleteInvasion 1897 instead Invasion 1987

DeleteThanks for catching this, Anna.

ReplyDeleteI looked up on Netflix and I couldn't find Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. The only one they have is the one in 2003
DeleteOK this is weird, if you hover over the poster it DOES say "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D." But if you look at the details, yes it's just "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" from 2003. I honestly have no clue where I got 2015, must have been hallucinating, sorry.
DeleteI just want to be clear that "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D" is how it's listed in the press release, I wasn't hallucinating that.
Delete
DeleteThe title I use on the master list matches the title as it appears on My List. In this case that is: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. When I searched for that exact title on my laptop/Netflix website, it came up, no problem. Not sure what happened that it didn't come up for you, Anonymous - any deviance, for example a space between 3 and D, can cause it to not show. Or, perhaps you were using a device/app that didn't bring it up that way.
In any case, the title that shows on the poster frequently doesn't match the My List title. The poster for this movie includes "The", which is actually the correct title for the film, but Netflix omits "The". This is all complicated by Netflix now using fancy title display once you open the details page. I try to put a note on titles when the discrepancy might be so confusing that users couldn't easily determine the right film.
When I update the list, this movie will be shown as follows:
9/15
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D (2003)
What a confusing mess, all caused by Netflix. There IS a "Texas Chainsaw 3D" released in 2013, and the 2003 remake was NOT released or made in 3D. But for some reason Netflix conflated the two.
DeleteCarol, as a confirmed horror junkie I can assure you this is a weird Netflix error, and the title does not match the film.
DeleteAs will g notes, the 3D remake was 2013, not 2003.
When I search the 3D title, I'm shown the cover art for the 2003 film, which is simply "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre."
When I click on that cover art, the info page does indeed list the title as Chainsaw 3D, but all the movie info is for the 2003 film (plot differs) and the actors for 2003.
When I click play, it is most Definitely the 2003 film, starring Jessica Biel and Jonathan Tucker, not the 2013 film which stars Alexandra Daddario.
I don't think I've ever seen Chainsaw 3D on US Netflix. Not in the last couple years, at least...
DeleteThanks Unknown. I'll make this right when I update the list, and put a note on it to explain the two titles.
High-Rise does not show up as expiring in my list?
ReplyDeleteGood catch. And I've almost finished watching it!
Deletei'm also not seeing High Rise as expiring
ReplyDeletethe film Miss Lovely is leaving on the 1st and i haven't seen it listed by anyone yet
My Blu-Ray app (14 day window) shows High-Rise expiring, but on Sept 1, not August 31 as in the list above.
DeleteMy guess is that you are looking at an app with just the 7 day window, and that High-Rise's expiration date will show up on your list tomorrow.
So we'll see tomorrow if the press release was off by a day.
Delete
DeleteNot sure why High-Rise didn't have an expiration notice in the first Anonymous's My List. It does (and did early this morning) in mine. For months with 31 days, all end of month titles show up on the 25th.
Also, please note that our list goes by the last day to watch, which is one day earlier than the date Netflix shows. As far as I can see, everything is A-OK with the High-Rise info, both on Netflix and our list.
I am original poster, it is now showing expiring. So for some reason Netflix erased the expiring for a few hours.
DeleteSame for me, it did not show a date on my My List earlier, now it does.
