  1. Happy November, everyone! We are back to posting comments the traditional way - no special thread for titles. However, let's all try to make an effort to limit comments on this page to those specifically about the titles that are going to expire, or those that have recently expired.

I have put a link to the Discussions & Ideas page just above the Comments section. There is also a link to that page, as well as a couple of the open Discussion pages, in the footer at the very bottom of this page. That way, those of you who are using devices that don't show the sidebar can get to the appropriate page for comments more easily.

    Thanks!

  2. I know Bones season 6 is leaving Dec 10, not sure of the rest of the seasons.

    1. Thanks, Michigan Mom. This is a really confusing one. There are eleven seasons of Bones currently streaming. Three seasons in the middle are scheduled to expire, but not on the same day, and not in sequential order. According to the Netflix app on my Sony smart TV, the breakdown looks like this:

      Bones
Seasons 1-4: not scheduled to expire at this time
Season 5: last day to watch is 12/3
Season 6: last day to watch is 12/9
Season 7: last day to watch is 12/7

Seasons 8-11: not scheduled to expire at this time

If anyone else finds different info about this show, please let me know. Between the political events of this week, and now this, I'm pretty sure I'm in an unaired episode of The Twilight Zone.

  3. 12/14- Roseanne Collection

I know this one recently lost some episodes and gained others, so might be worth watching to see if something similar is going to happen.

    1. Thanks, Kari. My best guess is that we won't get more episodes of Roseanne, as we did last time, because the current Collection 3 has the last 2 seasons (8 and 9). Collection 2, which expired August 1, had seasons 6 and 7. Also, Collection 2 never had an expiration notice, because it was going to be replaced by Collection 3. We knew it was going to expire only because of the press release. We DO have the notice for Collection 3, so that makes me think there won't be more. I don't know if seasons 1-5 streamed previously on Netflix, or if there was a Collection 1. Trying to think logically doesn't always work well when predicting what NF will do.

      Delete
    2. Netflix used to have all 9 seasons of Roseanne streaming. Then it was pulled and the first "collection" appeared.

      Delete
    3. Who cares. I want either all the seasons and episodes or don't even bother. Just wait until the rest of the classic TV content goes away next year I have a bad feeling it will be all gone by 2017.

      Delete
    4. It's possible that maybe we might get another collection. If memory serves me right, Collection 1 (it did exist) was for Seasons 4-5. For what it's worth, my Roku is showing Roseanne under TV coming soon (would feel more confident if there was a date, though).

      Delete

    5. Jordan and Brian - thanks for filling in the blanks about Roseanne. Interesting that it shows as coming soon - let's hope it's all 9 seasons, in the correct order.

    6. Tony Ramirez -- What are you basing your information on that "the rest of the classic TV content goes away next year?"

    1. Hi Seth - yes, and thanks for sending that title along. It's on the list for 11/30, with the full title that's used on Netflix: Nightbreed: The Director's Cut.

Btw, I know you like to keep track of when we have everything for month-end. We're not there yet, but I think we have the majority. I'm guessing there might be about 10-15 more. The notices go up on the Netflix site on 11/24, so our list should be complete by the 25th.

      Delete
    2. That's good I don't have much expired from my list luckily.

  5. It's starting.
    12/30
Hercules: The Legendary Journeys - 6 Seasons (1995-1999)
Told you buy 2017 there will be no older programs left on Netflix. Nothing from at least 2010 and up.

Also the Powerpuff Girls which Netflix removed last is now on Hulu as I knew it would be. I was surprised it lasted on Netflix that long as they gutted many CN content in 2014 from Netflix to Hulu.

  6. For at least the last three days Netflix has disabled streaming before midnight on some of the movies set to expire. For example, yesterday, I watched part of 'In the House" in the afternoon. Upon clicking the Play Icon when I went to finish watching it at 10:30 pm I got a message saying the content was not available in my region. I tested it again just before midnight and got the same message. I was watching on my computer in Chrome browser, but also got the message when I tried to play it on my phone. In addition, I was able to stream "Ultimate Spiderman", which was also set to expire. I am in the Pacific Time Zone. This is similar to what had occurred in the previous two days. I vaguely recall something like this happening quite a while ago but it only happened once so I shrugged it off. Hopefully, after the holidays are over, if the problem persists I can find time to talk to Netlix support but for the time being I just wanted to give a heads up to everyone doing last minute watching.

As I've said before, you are doing a GREAT, incredible, fantastic job Carol. It is much appreciated as are the contributions of all, and also of course, thanks to Dave E. for starting this blog.

    1. Thanks for the heads up, V.M., and for your kind words.

      Delete
    2. Just a thought, but if you're in the Pacific Time Zone, maybe they are using Eastern Standard Time to calculate when the day ends? Have you tried watching anything right before 9:00pm and see if that works?

      Delete

    3. I'm also in the Pacific zone, and shows have always been available right up to midnight, so something else must be going on. I have noticed many more quality control issues at NF recently, and I would say this problem falls into that category.

      Delete
    4. Similar, but doesn't make sense at all: "For a Woman" had a Netflix expiration date of 11/20, so I would have expected it to be available until midnight on 11/19. It would not play on the morning of 11/19. I'm also in the Pacific zone.

      Delete
    5. @ Sammy H. I had thought it might be something like that. Specifically, one of my family is currently out of state, in Chicago, & I thought it could be basing the expiration date on the fact that she watched a movie that day on her phone. The problem with that theory is that on all three days I had the problem, other movies set to expire were in fact playable until midnight (ok, 11:58) e.g. the example I cited in the original post, of "Ultimate Spiderman." If it were a problem due to a time zone mis-synchronization all expiring movies would be affected. Also the play icon was still there, which would not be the case if Netflix "thought" it was past midnight where I lived.

@Linklisa I haven't had a chance to watch anymore movies since, but the theory I came up with while on the toi - let's say I was in the shower shall we? - was that the problem doesn't affect movies who are universally expiring, but only those movies that are being rotated to a different viewing area. This idea is partially based on the error message, which says the vid is not available in my region. Netflix may be automatically disabling the viewing in the old region region - or regions - as soon is it becomes midnight in the new region - or regions - and is rotated there. This would possibly also explain why you were cutoff at a different time from me, as when the movie becomes inactive in the old region(s) would vary depending on the differential between the old & new time zones of the viewing region(s)

    6. Had this problem fairly recently with The Retrieval. Was able to play part of it that morning, but couldn't start it again that evening. And it was well before midnight. There had been times that I've started late and finished a film after midnight before. Glad to know I'm not the only one with a problem.

  7. The following two movies from the 11/30 list are currently not playing, and show an error code:

    Camp Takota
    Edge of the Earth

I haven't checked any of the other titles, but these two no longer had the duration info on My List, so I thought there might be a problem. Let me know if either of these titles works for any of you.

Renewal: Chuggington, which was scheduled to expire at midnight tonight, no longer has an expiration notice.

    1. Just tried both of the above, got the error code.

    2. I tested these & couldn't play them either. one thing I noticed is the error message I got for both of them indicated an internet connectivity problem, although other movies I tried played just fine. On the other hand, when I had problems playing videos last week (as previously posted) I got a different error message, one that said the video was not available in my region. "'Curiouser and curiouser!' cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English);"

  8. I watched Camp Takota I think a week ago with no problems just so you know it did work at one time.

  9. Thanks Eric and Anonymous. That is helpful information. Unlike what I got from yet another unproductive conversation with NF Customer Service. The fellow was positive it had to be an Internet connectivity issue, even after I told him others had the same problem, and that except for the two titles I mentioned, everything else played normally for me. The only thing he told me that was of any value was that currently, iPad streaming was not working for anyone, so if you're having that problem, you're not alone.

    Children of the Corn

Not only Hellraiser, as noted in a previous comment, but the sequel, Hellbound: Hellraiser 2

There are also a number of returns from earlier expirations, e.g., the always fun Beverly Hills Cop, which left 2 months ago.

  21. Here are the new ones showing in my queue this morning. This is very, very troubling:

    12/31
Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1957) (1 season)
    Battlestar Galatica (1978) (1 season)
    Columbo (1976) (1 season)

    1. Yeah my queue now looks like a disaster zone. If all of these leave, I'm out. Hulu or Amazon here I come! At least I only have 32 episodes of Murder, She Wrote left so that's one I won't have to be as upset over.

      I'll also add:
      Rosemary and Thyme (3 seasons)
      Black Butler (2 seasons)

    4. i'll sign that, jill. a lot of these i'd looked forward to watching start to finish eventually, but the loss of this one hurts the most for personal reasons. (that said, other posters have informed me these kinds of series can be borrowed at a library, and i wonder if there is a cheapie complete series dvd boxed set these days, but that's besides the point. for a lot of people, if it's not on netflix to watch instantly then it might as well not even exist.)

    1. Tony - I'm sure a lot of us feel as you do, and I will not delete any of your comments. I'd like to request, though, that comments expressing personal opinions and/or personal responses to Netflix decisions be posted on the current Discussions & Ideas page, rather than here.

I'd like for this page to focus on lists of expiring titles, and relevant information about those titles, e.g., if they're available on another streaming service. One of the reasons I tried separating all titles into one thread in October was so that readers looking for titles added during the day didn't have to comb through a lot of comments of another nature.

It would help a lot if rant-type comments were someplace we could all say as much about our feelings as we wanted, without worrying about slowing down those who just wanted a quick look for recently added titles. It's only a short scroll from the comment box to the bottom footer, where there's a link to the Discussions page. Fair enough?

    2. Thanks, Carol. I think this strikes the right balance. I'm following up on this with further comments on the discussion page.

  28. Even Angry Birds Toons and Max Steel. Sorry Carol but this is very bad. Everything expiring is about 90% of what I am watching.

    1. So I was going to correct you and say the original BSG only has one season, but then I looked at NBC and you're right it does say they have two seasons. Upon further investigation, they have the entire series of BSG (1978) listed as season 1 and what they have listed as season 2 is actually the spinoff series titled Galactica 1980.

It actually took me some time to figure this out, because (as if it wasn't strange enough already) "season 2" is listed as having 8 episodes instead of 10, which Galactica 1980 actually has. After much clicking and googling, it seems to me (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), that they actually have episode 1, skip episodes 2 and 3, but then have the rest, 4-10. Why? Who knows?

Also, I didn't need a cable subscription to watch.

    2. After the mess on the BSG page, I thought I'd check out Quantum Leap. They have all but one episode of it. Season 2 episode 2: Disco Inferno is missing. Although the page does say they have season 2 episode 2, this is wrong because they incorrectly label episode 3 as 2, then mislabel episode 4 as season 1 episode 9, then all the episodes from 5 to 10 are off by two downwards (5 is 3, etc), then they mislabel episode 11 as season 1 episode 10, then all the rest of the episodes in the season (12-22) are off by 3 downwards (ending with 22 as 19).

All the rest is correct except for the misnumbering of season 1. The first two episodes are lumped in together since they were a two-parter, and the episode numbering is thrown off by one the rest of the season.

By the way, sorry if this went on a bit, but it took me a very long time to figure this whole mess out and I thought if I went through all the trouble because I was planning on watching them maybe some of you all would too, so I thought I'd save everyone else the trouble of figuring it out on your own.

    3. I am binging Quantum Leap watched 5 episodes yesterday something I usually don't do but I know 100% that NF will take it off on Jan 1st they don't care about classic TV shows anymore. I have 21 episodes left on season 5 to watch. I did see most of them years ago but I always missed the last few episodes of the series.

    2. Or perhaps the first half of the series, like what happened with Inspector Morse.

No surprise there. I was going to post it yesterday but I was still angry. This is why I stopped watching any of the Marvel cartoons on NF.
