This page is now the archive for October 2016 expired titles.

This page will no longer be updated.

November 1, 2016
Update on the status of the Additional Titles comment thread:
Please note that I have not yet put up a new post for the month of November. That will happen this weekend, on Sunday, Nov. 6.

I have given a lot of thought to whether or not to continue putting all comments that have additions to the expiring titles list in a separate thread, at the beginning of all other comments, as was done in October. I want to thank everyone who expressed an opinion about that method. You gave me valuable insight into how it affected you.

I have decided to return to the previous, traditional method of leaving comments, so that expiring title additions will be mixed in with all other comments. This will be effective with the November post, starting next Sunday. In the meantime, please continue to use the Additional Titles thread, for the sake of consistency.

I tried to weigh every aspect of this choice, but finally decided that enough of you expressed a preference for the "old" method that it would be easier for those of us who liked having all the titles together to return to how things have been done in the past than it would for those of you who liked having only one section of comments to make the change to something totally different. I hope everyone is okay with this decision. Thanks to all of you for being willing to cooperate in trying something new.

Thorne: Sleepyhead (2010)     Renewed
Total Drama - World Tour (Season 3) (2014)
Note for Total Drama: This is a 5-season series. Based on the wording of the press release, and the notice on my Smart TV Netflix app, it appears the only season expiring is the one titled  World Tour, which is Season 3 of the series. It does seem strange that they're pulling a season out of the middle, so I'm skeptical.
Also, Netflix lists 2 seasons as "Season 1." The second one is actually Season 2. And the last 2 seasons on Netflix are actually the first and second half of Season 5 of the series.
Twelve (2010)
Underground: The Julian Assange Story (2012)
Urban Cowboy (1980)
Varsity Blues (1999)

    4. Jeremy - I have copied your comment and replied at the bottom of this page.

    1. Use the bold “Reply” link above my photo - and directly below the long line - to add titles to the master list.

END OF ADD TITLES COMMENT THREAD . . . . . . . . . . Go to other new comments at end of page.

  3. Re "Shameless," it's obviously the British version, the American will still be available. Also, there seems to be a season missing. There are eleven, and what Netflix calls Series 10 is actually the 11th season.

    1. I finally figured it out. All 11 seasons are actually on Netflix, but for reasons unknown they combined Series 8 AND 9 into one season which they call series 8. Which means:

      NF Series 8 = Series 8 and 9
      NF Series 9 = Series 10
      NF Series 10 = Series 11

I haven't counted the episodes on NF but the show had 139 in total.

    2. Thanks for taking the time to figure that out. It would have been strange for Netflix to arbitrarily leave out one season.

    3. Your very welcome! Of course after looking this over, I realized I made an error (I blame the fact that Series 8 has 22 episodes which seems odd for a UK series).
      Corrected Netflix Series Listing:
      NF Series 1-8 = Series 1-8 ;)
      NF Series 9 = Series 9 AND 10
      NF Series 10- Series 11

Sorry for any confusion that might have caused. At least as far as I can tell, all episodes are there it's just that Series 9 is actually Series 9 and 10 combined. It could be possible that NF combined the two because both seasons actually aired in the same calendar year, but that's just me guessing.

    4. This is sad. They just added the American version recently and I was set to slowly watch both series side-by-side for comparison. Looks like that is out the window now.

    5. will g: thanks for the notes about the 2 versions of Shameless, and the discrepancy between the number of seasons - and thanks for putting those in a separate comment - great job!

Roxie: thank you so much for figuring out what's up with the NF seasons vs. the show's actual seasons. I didn't want to put a note with the title until we knew what was what, so I really appreciate your detective work. I'll put the note on with the next update.

Ed: all might not be lost. Shameless is on Hulu, and they still have the $5.99/month for the first year offer.

    6. You're welcome, and this new format is working out great. You're a genius for coming up with it.

  4. is showing Season 2 of Beauty and the Beast expiring on 10/23. I have no idea how accurate that is since Seasons 1 to 4 are currently streaming (Season 4 was just added) and there is no mention of Season 1 expiring.

    1. I believe this is a mistake, Wellesley72. If you click on the B&tB title on the expiring list at instantwatcher, it shows what comes after the ellipsis following "season 2" - a specific episode, titled Redemption (season 2, episode 14). The Jason Statham movie with that title IS slated to expire on the same date, so I think it was a technical error. I sent email to instantwatcher, so hopefully they'll remove Beauty & the Beast from the list.

    2. I would not put it past them Notflix expiring earlier seasons so you are screwed when wanting to watch the entire series.

    1. Thanks Anonymous - I relocated Breathe In to the Add Titles thread (first thread in Comments).

    2. Not sure what that means, this is not an Add Title this is an expiring streaming title.

    3. Sorry, Anonymous - you deserved a better explanation of what I was doing. I'm afraid I'm still catching up with making sure everyone knows the new procedure for adding Expiring Titles to our list.

The Add [expiring] Titles [to our list] thread begins with the first comment on this page. Titles are entered as "Replies" to that first comment. The initial comment itself gives a fuller explanation. Following the initial comment are the titles people have submitted (including yours that I "relocated").

The idea is to have all the titles together, so it's easier for people to keep track of what's new to the list. Yes, it's a little less convenient to add an expiring title than with the old system, but I'm hoping the trade-off is worth it.

I will put a link to the top of the Comments in the bottom footer (below) so that it's easier to get to the Add Titles thread if you're at the bottom of the page.

Give it a try, and let me know what you think. Thanks again for contributing!

    4. The anonymous that put Breathe In,
I am regular contributor and did not even notice that this changed. Not sure where I missed that. Sorry but will place correctly next time. :)

    1. Thanks for all the titles, Anonymous - great work! (I'm assuming both lists are from the same Anonymous because of uniformity of style. If I'm wrong about this, I apologize, but either way, my notes apply to both comments.)

I have moved the titles you sent to our new thread for adding titles to the list (see first comment thread, above). Note that I removed two titles because they were already on the list.

On Monday morning (after I've had time to work on this over the weekend), I will be posting some helpful aids to make it easier to work with this new way of submitting and viewing titles in the Comments section. In the meantime, please feel free to leave any comments you have about this change (positive or negative) at the following link:

      Discussion: Add Titles Comment Thread

Thanks again for the new expiring titles.

  7. Kristina's title commentOctober 10, 2016 at 11:54 AM

    Kristina October 10, 2016 at 11:29 AM

Can't believe I have missed so much! I hope this is the right place to put this info. My Vizio TV shows Inspector Morse Seasons 1-4 expiring one day earlier (10/14).

    1. Hi Kristina, yes, we've been busy bees, here! Glad you're back with us.

I just checked on my Sony Smart TV, and I'm getting the same info as you: Episodes in seasons 1-4 have a message at the beginning of the episode that says, "This season is available until October 15," which of course would mean a last day of Oct. 14. Starting with season five, the message changes to, "This show is available until October 16," one day later. This doesn't make much sense to me, but I think it would be wise to take it at face value. I will put a note with the title on the list.

      Thanks for catching this, Kristina.

    1. Hi will g, I moved Grand Hotel to the Additional Titles thread. No problem, I know it will take a while before we all remember all the time.

I did put in a new link that will take you just below the new thread, so you can get to the Reply box fast. If you find yourself here (at the bottom of the page), go down to the footer, and click on the first link under the header.

    2. OH MY GOD! I can't believe I did that, sorry.

  9. Jordan - did you see what's expiring on 11/14? Exploding Sun (2013)! Back on August 11, you told us Exploding Sun would likely expire around 11/10. I think you hold the record for most advance notice of an expiring title - 3 months. Impressive!

    1. Nice! I didn't notice the expiration but I've had it at the top of my list for the last few months anyway!

  10. Don't forget some sites use to show expired dates years in advanced and if you remember them they still stand up today.

    1. Yes, did that until they changed every expiration date to the same date in the future. Now you can only see the dates for movies that are expiring that month.

  11. is this all of the movies that are supposed to be expiring this month or are there some more coming once the press release comes out soon?

    1. We shall see. There are already so many listed that there probably won't be many more.

    2. There may be a few more, but I feel as though we got most of them already.

    3. It'll be a week before the end of the month (which makes, what, the 25th?), when the expiration notices show up on NF's website, before we really know if we got them all.

  12. will g - thanks for the press release titles; they got them to us early for a change - yay!

About the Total Drama World Tour confusion: The pull-down menu for available seasons of Total Drama shows two Season 1's (If you click on them, they're different). The next season doesn't have a number, but is called "Total Drama World Tour." I believe the press release is saying that only this season is expiring. That would explain why there's no "available until" notice. When I have more time (hopefully tonight), I'll see if I can make better sense of the available seasons/episodes compared to what IMDb shows, and I'll put a note with the title when I update the master list. Thanks for noticing and noting this problem.

    1. Thanks for contributing, Anonymous. I have moved Cruel & Unusual to the Additional Titles comment thread. It's okay that you posted it here, if that is easier for you, but I want all new expiring titles to be in the Titles thread so readers don't have to look in two places. Soon, I will be posting some ideas for how using the Titles thread can be easier.

  14. Renewal: John Mulaney: New in Town, which was last day 10/22 is now renewed.

  15. This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.

    1. Hi Anonymous, Cleanskin was already posted in the Titles thread earlier today. Please check there before adding a title, because we try not to have duplicates.

Also, we ask everyone who is new to contributing titles to read through the guidelines before posting them in comments. If you go to the end of the master list at the top of this page, there is a link to the Guidelines for Submitting Titles. If you have any questions about them, you can leave a comment there, and I'll answer you. Thanks Anonymous.

  16. I believe we now have everything for last day 10/31 (barring any expired-without-notice titles).

We also have a bunch of new additions to the November expirations, thanks to Brian Clarkson.

And there are tons of reviews, too, on the We Recommend page.

    Happy viewing!

  17. I'm not sure it ever left but UNOGs is showing the second season of Alphas (2012) as streaming again on Netflix. Season 1 was removed some time ago and is NOT streaming on Netflix.

    1. Yes, season 1 of Alphas was one of those that expired without notice - sometime around the beginning of September. I don't believe there was any interruption of season 2. It might have taken uNoGS a while to catch up with this anomaly.

    2. Who's dumb idea is to add season 2 without 1 how are you suppose to watch any series.

  18. Renewal: Bridegroom (2013), which was last day 10/26 has been renewed.

  19. The show Total Drama was renewed today.

  20. Only the season called Total Drama World Title expired. The remaining episodes were not scheduled to expire and did not.

  21. Renewals from 10/31 - several of the movies that just expired are back streaming again:

    Antboy (2013)
BMF: The Rise and Fall of a Hip-Hop Drug Empire (2012)
    Thorne: Scaredy Cat (2010)
    Thorne: Sleepyhead (2010)

    1. Thanks Jeremy, I'm glad you find our list helpful. Netflix Queue Busters also has a lot of expiring titles. There's a link in the sidebar, under Related Websites. That site and this one both sprang from the same original blog that closed about a year ago. We share titles, and usually end up with very similar lists. Other than that one, I don't think there's anything out there with as many expiring titles. We've got a great group of contributors.
