ReplyDeleteChange in archived lists: I decided to archive two months at a time instead of one. Whereas before we had a separate archive for each month of expired titles, starting with September/October, there will be two months of expired titles on each page. There is also a page for November/December that I will add to as December titles expire. This will save me time, and make the change-over process easier.
LarryG has posted instructions on the Amazon blog for accessing streaming videos through the public library, as something of a replacement for those whose Kanopy service was discontinued (like me).

DeleteLarryG was kind enough to post that info on our Discussions page, as well. Scroll down to recent comments at:
https://expiringonnetflix.blogspot.com/p/discussions-ideas-january-2019.html
(link is also in the Footer and near the top of the Sidebar)
ReplyDeleteI have just checked the titles that were on the press release of December 11. Everything other than the 1/31 movies should now have an availability notice on the smart TVs. Following are titles that did NOT have a notice, so they have either been renewed, or the press release had it wrong, or ???
The Fighter (on the 1/12 list) - no availability notice
Forks Over Knives (on the 1/15 list) - no availability notice
La Reina del Sur - Season 1 only (on the 1/31 list) - this used to have an availability notice on Season 1, but it no longer does.
If someone wants to check the above shows to make sure I'm not missing something, that would be great.
The following shows from the press release now all DO have availability dates that match what's on our list:
Becoming Jane, Maron (4 seasons), The Rezort, Short Term 12, and Spartacus (4 seasons).
When are they going to show stuff that's going to expire at the end of the month?
ReplyDelete
Delete1. Series expiring at month-end = Already on the list above
2. Movies and single shows expiring at month-end = Some are already on the list; more will show up on January 18 - check the comments on that date.
For the future, here is the rule for MOVIES and SINGLE SHOWS:
> Months with 30 days: Month-end titles start to appear in comments on the 17th of the month.
> Months with 31 days: Month-end titles start to appear in comments on the 18th of the month.
Two days ago I was watching "The ministry of time". Today's gone, like it never even existed..anybody knows anything about this?
ReplyDelete"El ministerio del tiempo" (which is the way it's titled on the site) was what I call a Netflix Exclusive, a Spanish series for which Netflix had the exclusive streaming rights. It's still pretty rare for one of those to expire, though obviously it does happen. I don't know if any notice was given on My List.
Delete
DeleteThe Ministry of Time was removed from Netflix on February 1. It was added to Netflix on February 21, 2018, so I would have expected it to last until at least the 20th of this month. There were 3 seasons streaming, and all three expired, so there should have been a notice on it, but we would have caught it if there was. This one seems to be a case of "Netflix screwed up."
ReplyDeleteRegarding Jeopardy!, scheduled for last day 2/27:
If you have this on your "My List" or if you look on the Details page where the availability notice usually is, you will not see any "available until" notice. However, if you play the show, all 5 seasons have the notice at the beginning, "This season is available until 2/28."
Pretty sure what that means is that all the current episodes will expire, but NEW ones will replace them, so that the show itself isn't expiring, just the episodes that are now streaming.
That is correct. The Netflix notice listing what is coming in February shows three “new” collections coming at the end of February.
ReplyDeleteLove (love, love) the bright red "New to the list" tags!!!
ReplyDeleteThey're great to help my older eyes notice new entries (far more easily than italics did).
Thanks for all your efforts!
DeleteYou're welcome, Anonymous. I put "new to the list" on because those titles didn't get on the master list until the day before their last day to watch, and I wanted to make sure everyone knew about them. I hadn't planned to start doing this for all new titles - it might not be so welcome on those days when 30 or more titles are added. However, I'll think about possibly changing to adding "NEW" instead of italics.
If anyone else has an opinion about this, please put comments on the Discussions page:
https://expiringonnetflix.blogspot.com/p/discussions-ideas-january-2019.html
I believe the bright red tags indicate titles with high reviews. The newly added titles are in red italics. See the key at the top of the blog post.
Delete
DeleteOops - looks like PunkinheadDelux and I replied at the exact same time. I think my response explains what Anonymous was referring to - if you didn't see the blog for a couple days, you might have missed seeing "new to the list" next to some titles. Normally, PunkinheadDelux's explanation of how new titles are indicated is correct (also bolded titles).

I'm listing the dates posted online, since we had determined that Netflix had started using our last-day-to-watch in their release, but just realized March has 31 days, so should the 3/30 list actually be 3/31? Who knows!
Delete
DeleteI was only able to check the first 3 titles (those with last days 3/3 and 3/4). Those are the correct last days according to the availability notices on my smart tv. I agree that the 3/30 list looks more like a 3/31 list, and I don't trust Netflix to be on top of how many days are in the month. If their list is correct, how come they don't give us any 3/31 titles? For now, I think we have to go with what this says, but I'll be checking on March 17.

Pioneers of African-American Cinema - 1 Season (1946)
I just noticed the expiration notice is back on this series (it had been scheduled for last-day 3/1 before, but the notice came off, so I marked it as Renewed). I think the notice must have just gone back on because it does not show up on uNoGS.com, and they usually catch everything that is expiring.
ReplyDeleteAs I’m sure you’ve noticed, I’ve had a hard time keeping the list updated (too many other obligations). This month, for the first time, I was not able to get all the month-end titles on the list by today. I apologize, and hope that won’t happen again. I did want to get titles for the next few days on the list, so I have done that. I’m really hoping I can do a full update sometime tomorrow, including putting up a new page with a new comments section. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
I hope I can speak for everyone when I say that we appreciate all your hard work.
