    Mad Men - 7 Seasons (2014)

  2. OK. It’s officially the end of the world now.

    1. Is that a cry of despair over "Mad Men" leaving? You'd think there'd be more of that online, but there's been no "Friends"-like uproar. I just searched Twitter and there are exactly six tweets about it. Hardly anybody's noticed it yet, aside from us thanks to Travis. (I had it in my My List but for some reason didn't see the date this morning.)

    2. The end of Friends on Netflix was announced well in advance both by Netflix and its new home, Peacock. This is a stealth removal. Maybe I’m just sentimental about Mad Men because it was one of the first series to stream on Netflix and, like Breaking Bad, probably would have died an early death on cable tv except for its popularity on Netflix.

    3. You can see how much attention I paId to where Friends is going—it’s going to HBO Max, not Peacock.

  3. LAST DAY TODAY -- only one day notice!
    5/13
Gomorrah — 2 series (24 episodes) (2014) — Naples Camorra (Mafia), in Italian. Italian television broadcast four series, the last in 2019. Netflix apparently had just the first two.

  4. Absolutely the best crime show on TV. Netflix got rights to the first two seasons from The Weinstein Company. Seasons 3 and 4 are not available in the US in any format.

  5. Please note: Links will now remain on expired titles. They've been added to the previous post beginning with May 1. For titles expired before May, you can use the search method offered by Travis at:

Thanks to Anonymous for making this suggestion, and thanks to Larry G for explaining how to make it work.

    1. Everyone's contributions to this blog are greatly appreciated, movie dates or not, since both Netflix and Amazon do such a poor job notifying customers of expiring titles. However, UnclePennyBags, if you would add dates, I'm sure everyone would appreciate it: I know I would. For example, you listed "The Ring," but which of the two Ring movies is expiring? The expiry date won't show up for about another month, and if both Ring movies are on Netflix, we couldn't tell which one was expiring. The same thing happens to movies coming to Netflix on some websites and the problem is the same: is it the version that I've seen or not seen. Sometimes I have to wait until a movie arrives to determine if it is the version I've see or not.

Keep contributing UnclePennyBags, it is appreciated. I know I forgot to add movie dates when I first started contributing, and you and I won't be the last.

  7. OK. It’s officially the end of the world now. Maybe I’m just sentimental about The Andy Griffith Show and Cheers because these were some of the first series to stream on Netflix.

  8. Thanks a bunch to both UnclePennyBags and will g for coming through for us as soon as the press release became available. UnclePennyBags, I especially appreciate that you gave us the url where you found the info. This helps me to clarify things when there is any conflict of info.

In order to reduce the length of the scroll and avoid duplicate info, I'm going to delete the first list, and keep the second one, because it has the years of the titles, and also does not have any repeats of titles previously sent in by others. However, there are two titles on the first list that do not appear on the second one. They are:

    6/22
    Tarzan (1999)
Tarzan 2, aka Tarzan II (2005)

Okay, I think that covers everything. I'll get the master list updated as soon as I can.

    1. Just checked the site that I used, and the 6/22 entry is there. Sigh, thanks for catching it.

    2. There's also a TV show called Tarzan and Jane, but I don't think it's going to expire

      Delete

    3. You're right Anonymous - the Tarzan and Jane series is not currently scheduled to expire. Both movies are from Disney, but the series is done by another production company so it's under a different contract.

  9. FYI, several titles that expired suddenly last month due to a legal issue are back, including Republic of Doyle and Can't Cope, Won't Cope.

  10. Anyone else notice that Instantwatcher has stopped listing new Netflix titles? The last ones were for May 18. Still listing new Amazon Prime titles though.

    1. Yes, I was wondering what is happening. Anybody have any information?

    2. Don't know what's going on with instantwatcher, but you can see the additions and removals for each day at: https://usa.newonnetflix.info/

    3. Over on unogs's website, an explanation was given that those using VPNs or cloud servers are not getting search results since May (Netflix is hiding it from them). Have to presume that's the problem with InstantWatcher. Here's a link: https://forum.unogs.com/topic/192/addressing-recent-issues-with-the-website-and-api

      Delete
    4. The thing is the site Carol mentioned, NewOnNetflix.info, is still posting new titles each day, including today, so whatever is causing problems for Instantwatcher isn't for them.

      Delete
    5. Instantwatcher just made an announcement today. They're removing the Netflix portion of their website due to the API shutdown that they rely on (right around May 18 is when it happened). I suspect what is keeping sites like New on Netflix, What's on Netflix and mine going is that we rely on multiple sources and don't have a computer scrape from the website API.

      Delete
    6. Thanks for the info. Disappointed because Instantwatcher was the one I was used to and found easiest to use to add titles, but I suppose one of these others (including yours!) will do just fine.

    7. at the risk of stating the obvious, be sure to check https://www.netflix.com/latest regularly. that's where they announce some of the newest and upcoming additions even beyond their press releases. they tend to omit the less popular "catalog" titles and relative obscurities (that they nonetheless licensed).

  11. Carol, looks like our, and especially your, efforts are going to result in 2 million plus page views in the next couple of days. Congratulations!

    1. Thanks for keeping an eye on this, Eric. As of this moment, we've collectively checked the blog 2,000,043 times. We do love our movies, and we don't want to miss out on them! So glad we can all help each other here.

  12. I'm not seeing an expiration date on the Jeopardy episodes. Maybe they're renewed?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies

    1. More likely, Netflix plans to replace the current episodes with new ones - the expiration notice goes away in that case, too. Anyone who wants to watch the currently streaming episodes is well-advised to do so by last-day June 27. Thanks for calling our attention to this, Brian. Always good to hear from you.

    1. Welp wouldn't you know it, it appeared late in the afternoon, very unusual. I'll post the list below soon-ish.

    2. Sorry for the confusion. This list of expiring July titles appeared on the Entertainment Tonight website, which you'd THINK would be from the press release.

      https://www.etonline.com/whats-leaving-netflix-in-july-2020-142200

But it seems to be just another case of someone ripping off OUR list, complete with the wrong dates. There are a few we don't have, which I'll just put here. I assume the real list will be coming out tomorrow.

      7/8
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)

      7/28
      Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)

      7/29
      Incredibles 2 (2018)

    3. For anybody who happens to be reading these comments, Entertainment Tonight changed that post the next day to the press-release list.

  15. Yes but wouldn’t be surprised if other titles didn’t come from What’s On Netflix. Also, wouldn’t be surprised if titles on WON weren’t “appropriated” from this blog.

    1. will g - I carefully went over the list on the ET site you found. With the exception of the 3 Disney films, everything on their list is either already on our list (movies or series for 6/30), or in our comments, so you don't need to check again.

The Disney films (listed again, below) have not yet been confirmed by Netflix as leaving on those dates, but they are very likely correct. I'm hoping we'll see them on the real press release when it comes out.
      7/8: Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
      7/28: Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)

  21. Hoping to clear up some unclear items:

    Jeopardy!
The 3 seasons that are still streaming all have a notice on them that they will expire on July 28 (last day July 27). At that time a new Collection (Collection 6) will be added, so there probably will not be any notice on My List or on any of the sites that list all expiring titles that have series expiration dates. Thanks to Wellesley72 for the information that put me on the right track to figure out what's going on.

    The Interview
This title is on the press release for a last day of July 31. There are two movies with this title (thanks for catching this, will g). My best guess is that the one expiring is the Seth Rogan/James Franco movie (2014), not the Australian-made Hugo Weaving film (1998). The date the 2014 movie was added to Netflix (3-1-2020) would make sense for a 7-31 last day. That would mean it was streaming for 5 months. Last time it was on for 6 months. Also, the 2014 film is probably better-known to the average viewer, and Netflix tends to put films on the press release that are well-known.

The 1998 film was added on 12-21-16, which would not give it a logical last day of 7-31-20, and, although it is generally acknowledged as a much better film than the other one, it probably isn't as well-known among average U.S. Netflix viewers.

    The Iron Lady
This title is on the press release as having a last day of July 5, which means it should show an expiration notice on those apps that give two weeks notice for movies. But there is no notice that I can see. There is also a series with this same title that is streaming, but it doesn't have a notice either. I'm pretty sure the press release means the movie, because it was last added on July 6, 2019, exactly one year ago. Perhaps it has been renewed?? I'll put it on the list with a note about this. Use your own judgement about whether it has been renewed or if there's some kind of Netflix glitch.

Sorry for the long note, but Netflix has a way of making things so confusing. Growl.

    2. When I checked MyList at about 7 am this morning it was listed with a July 1 expiration. It was not so listed last evening. I checked MyList at 10:30 after seeing this comment from Anonymous, and now the title is gone from MyList. A search of Netflix won't pull it up. Netflix keeps providing us with new experiences.

    2. The url from Travis goes to the sequel, "47 Meters Down: Uncaged." After I found the original by searching for the director, I copied the url for the title on our list. But when I clicked on that url, I got a "404 - Not found" message. Director: Johannes Roberts, or you can check it out on IMDb, no problem.

    3. Rotten Tuh-matoes has it as "In the Deep" in the search, but 47 Meters Down when you click on the "In the Deep" result.  https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/47_meters_down  IMDB shows this "(alternative title)" at the bottom of the AKAs: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2932536/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_dt_dt#akas

    4. either way, a search for "47 Metres Down" or "47 Meters Down" like you said doesn't turn up the movie, which was all she was saying. she found it another way and has always noted when it's easier to find by the director name. check first before correcting her; she's very thorough.

    5. Thank you, Travis, I appreciate your kindness in being so supportive. I do try to be thorough in solving all the mysteries that get in the way of our quest to find and watch the best movies and shows. I'm afraid in this case, though, I slipped up. I normally check the IMDb aka page when a movie doesn't come up on RT, but this time I forgot to look there.

So thank you, too, Anonymous for that good detective work. I did not take any offense at your comment. We're just all here to help each other.
