NF Customer Service Chat

Following is a comment from Anonymous on May 27:

I'm a bit cynical as well. Had a similar chat with a CS rep yesterday. He kept trying to tell me how the information is available 30 days before the expiration if you look at the details for each individual movie. (I don't believe the info is there 30 days ahead of time except for TV series. But, I didn't want to get into an argument with the rep.) I tried to remain congenial throughout the conversation. But, in my head I just kept thinking are they really as clueless as they seem to be. Who knows whether the suggestions will help...but I'm not holding my breath as I don't think NF is really going to listen much. Here is a copy of the transcript of my chat with them so you can form your own opinions.

Here is the transcript from your recent chat with customer support:
Netflix Danny
Thanks for contacting Netflix, this is Danny. How can I assist you?

You
Hi Danny - I simply have a request. I would like to ask netflix to please give more advanced warning of expirations that are going to occur.

You
With so many movies expiring at the end of this month, it is impossible to try and catch all of the movies that I'd like to watch before they expire

You
One week notice simply isn't enough.

Netflix Danny
Hi, good request. Look, when a title is going to expire, the system says during the next 30 days.

You
the dates only show up in 'My List' one week before the expirations dates

Netflix Danny
I know a week is not enough to watch too many titles!

Netflix Danny
You can check your favorite titles manually to see if they are going to expire during the next month

You
I understand that things netflix has contracts that will expire. It would just be helpful to know sooner so i can plan what to watch in time

You
Well, it isn't very practical to look at every movie in my queue

Netflix Danny
Sure, you can plan your time! But worries, I've already taken your feedback so my team has it in mind.

You
30 days advance notice would be so much better

You
ok. THank you.

Netflix Danny
Exactly, that's the way it is. 30 days,

Netflix Danny
No problem. Can I help you with something else?

You
If the information is there 30 days ahead of time, why can't they display it in 'my list' sooner?

You
No, there is nothing else...I just wanted to pass along that requests

You
Thank you for yoru help.

Netflix Danny
Because is only with the titles which are going to expire soon (30 days)

Netflix Danny
If you don't see it, that's because the title isn't going to expire soon

You
The expiration dates only show up in my list 7 days before they expire

Netflix Danny
Yeah, when you select a title, the announce is over there

Netflix Danny
Just select the tittle and click on Details

You
Well, like i said, having to look at every movie in my list to see individually isn't very practical or helpful

You
Thank you for your time.

Netflix Danny
I know that can be frustrating, but that's a goo idea.

Netflix Danny
It's been a pleasure helping you, keep enjoying Netflix and I hope you can see as much Netflix as you want.

You
Thank you.

Netflix Danny
And one more thing, if you wouldn't mind, please stay online for a one question survey.
