No, but they just picked up the rights to Revenge (which NF dumped in the summer) and Cougar Town which are both ABC Studio properties, so it's posible they could pick up the rights for them as well.
I read something recently about ABC wanting to move their back catalog stuff to Hulu BIG TIME as we've seen FOX do recently. NBC will probably do the same with a lot of their comedies after the failure of Seeso.
ABC potentially has even MORE incentive to move their back catalog to Hulu because their parent company (Disney) is planning on purchasing Fox's share of the company in a planned buyout.
I like how we're all sitting on pins and needles since it's inevitable that there will be a mass slaughter for 12/31 right around the corner. The Expiring on Amazon Prime blog can currently attest to that.
For everyone: be sure to check back on the following dates for titles with a last-day-to-watch date of 12/31:
12/18: We will begin to see titles in comments; as we find more, they will trickle in each day.
approx. 12/20: The Netflix press release will come out, with a partial list of titles leaving throughout January, including last day 12/31 titles. Those will also be posted in comments.
12/25: The Netflix streaming site will show "Available until 1/1/2018" notices on the info page for expiring titles, and also on the manually ordered My List page. These should also show up on uNoGS, allflicks, and New on Netflix USA, although it make take them another day to get them all posted, assuming they're still able to access them.
We may not have EVERYTHING on our master list until, say, 12/27, so be sure to get started early watching titles that get discovered first so you'll have time for any you don't want to miss that come in later.
This may be slightly off topic by just a smidge but does anyone know of any alternative websites that show all of the expiring titles on Amazon Prime? I know you can manually check out each one, but that can be such a pain, especially if you have a huge library of flicks to watch.
Also, it should be noted that the manual check is being erased from Amazon Prime and will no longer be featured (as mentioned in the above blogspost). I can no longer see when titles expire and it's the same for most people since the web interface began being rolled out to customers a few months back.
In other words, that Blogspot is absolutely ESSENTIAL for anybody who can no longer see what titles are expiring on Amazon as this is the only way to now do so.
Okay - the 12/31 movies are now on the master list. All titles above this comment have been added to the master list. All titles below this comment will be added with the next full update.
Kudos to Anonymous for posting the 12/31 list from the press release. There are 44(!) movies, plus a few series. Thanks for putting the years on as many as you did, Anonymous. I know that can be time-consuming, and I really appreciate that you spent as much time as you could. Great job getting us this much-wanted info as early as possible!
And thanks to will g, too, for posting the rest of the January expiring titles from the press release. I'm impressed that both of you are on top of the press release, even when it comes out much earlier than expected - thanks so much for coming through for us!
I checked all the movies that were on the press release for last day 12/31. Those on the following list do not have an "available until Jan 1" notice, in other words, we can't be sure of their fate - renewed? on the press release by mistake? notice should be on, but isn't? I trust the notices more than the press release, so I'm going to mark these on the list as Renewed and put a note on them that we aren't 100% sure.
Also, regarding The Host, which the press release didn't specify which of two movies with this title was expiring: I wrote in previous notes that we would know the correct movie today, but I was thinking it was a last day 12/31 movie, and it is really on the 1/4 list. That means we won't know for sure until 12/22 which of the two "The Host" movies is leaving. Sorry for getting my dates mixed up.
I am currently contributing to the "expiringtitlesonamazonprime" blog. I'd like to do the same with this blog, but I only find out about my own expiring titles a week before they leave Netflix. This blog usually posts the same expirations two weeks before they leave Netflix. Besides "My List", is there someplace I should be looking to see if my movies will be expiring? For example, you just posted that "The Queen of the Damned" is leaving on 12/31, but I'm not seeing anything when I check this movie on the Netflix site.
about 20-30 more titles i found expiring on 1-1-18 on here: https://whatsplayingwordpresscom.wordpress.com/2017/12/20/leaving-netflix-instant-on-1-1-2018/
Thanks Jeremy - this is very interesting. I'm wondering what their source is; maybe they have a Netflix connection. When I have time, I'll check out the site more thoroughly.
Everyone: I'm checking out the 40+ additional titles at the above url. As soon as I can confirm them, I'll list them in a comment, but I'm very sleepy, so it might have to be later this morning.
That site started in Oct. 2015, around the same time Carol started this site, and nobody noticed till Jeremy! Here's the proprietor's Twitter account, which doesn't give any clues about where he gets his info, he spends most of his time promoting various contests.
yeah i stumbled across that site looking for a website like this for hulu. then i was checking their list for netflix and noticed a bunch on there. quite a lot going at the end of the year..
Law & Order SVU is no longer showing as a series expiring on my Roku or the website I checked all 4 seasons and seems like only season 14 aka the Fourteenth Year had a pop up saying that season was expiring.
Of course, this could be some error on Netflix's part so if you are in the process of watching them and close to finishing before Dec 31, I'd just continue watching to be safe.
If anyone wants to double check, that would be fantastic.
Great catch, Roxie! You are 100% correct - seasons 15, 16, and 17 of Law & Order: SVU have been renewed. Season 14 is still scheduled to expire after last day 12/31. I have updated the master list to reflect this change. Thank you!
Other Renewal news: The following series on the Jan 18 list have also been renewed: Killer Kids Occult Crimes Portal to the Unknown
Oh, that nutty Netflix - they don't know what's comin' or goin' or when it's happenin'. Thanks for catching this one, Jeremy. I think whoever put together the press release botched it - can't imagine all the Saws were renewed just for a few days. Pretty discouraging when customers know/care more about a site's information than the people who are getting paid to keep them informed. :-(
After seeing Jeremy's comment about the Saw movies, I also checked all the Pokemon shows that were on the press release as last day 12/31, but never had any availability notices. They still don't show any notice, but I'll keep an eye on them in case they pop up later, like the Saws.
Renewal: Wild Wild West (on the 12/31 movie list) no longer has the availability notice.
Left yesterday, renewed today: John Mulaney: New in Town. I'm shocked. (For any newcomers, this show has been up for expiration but always renewed numerous times over the last couple of years.)
Not to repetitious, but Thank You for all the updates last month, as well as before. I watched practically nothing in December but titles in My List and others that were expiring, and enjoyed a majority of them. Tonight: 'From the Rough'! --Josh
I'm always happy to hear the blog is accomplishing its goal of helping us all rest a little easier that we won't miss something we want to see. Glad you were able to make good use of it. What I like best about working on the blog is the sharing of time, effort, and resources from so many of you. Teamwork done well is an awesome thing, and makes me smile every day. Thanks for writing, Josh.
Thanks classicfilmbuffc. We occasionally have a problem with comments disappearing. I've looked into this, and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do to prevent it other than going to a different method of leaving comments, which would not be as user-friendly as the one we're now using. I'm sorry this happened to your comment, but I do get all comments in my email, and post them as I did with yours. Thanks again!

ReplyDeleteLost (2010)
It looks like that's all 6 seasons if I'm reading it correctly
Does hulu have it.

ReplyDeleteOf course, this could be some error on Netflix's part so if you are in the process of watching them and close to finishing before Dec 31, I'd just continue watching to be safe.
If anyone wants to double check, that would be fantastic.
DeleteGreat catch, Roxie! You are 100% correct - seasons 15, 16, and 17 of Law & Order: SVU have been renewed. Season 14 is still scheduled to expire after last day 12/31. I have updated the master list to reflect this change. Thank you!
Other Renewal news:
The following series on the Jan 18 list have also been renewed:
Killer Kids
Occult Crimes
Portal to the Unknown
i just noticed that all the Saw movies have 1/6 expirations now so last day of 1/5 for all 7 saw movies.

DeleteOh, that nutty Netflix - they don't know what's comin' or goin' or when it's happenin'.
Thanks for catching this one, Jeremy. I think whoever put together the press release botched it - can't imagine all the Saws were renewed just for a few days. Pretty discouraging when customers know/care more about a site's information than the people who are getting paid to keep them informed. :-(
I agree but I am sure they will inform you any news about there originals like "Stupid Things" real name Stranger Things.
DeleteOf course. Netflix tends to support Netflix originals, shockingly enough.

ReplyDeleteAfter seeing Jeremy's comment about the Saw movies, I also checked all the Pokemon shows that were on the press release as last day 12/31, but never had any availability notices. They still don't show any notice, but I'll keep an eye on them in case they pop up later, like the Saws.
Renewal: Wild Wild West (on the 12/31 movie list) no longer has the availability notice.
Did Netflix get hacked? Log on page showing CertusView 'Field Audit Manager' log in page ha ha.

ReplyDeleteLeft yesterday, renewed today: John Mulaney: New in Town. I'm shocked. (For any newcomers, this show has been up for expiration but always renewed numerous times over the last couple of years.)
They should just make it a Netflix exclusive title now.
DeleteNot to repetitious, but Thank You for all the updates last month, as well as before. I watched practically nothing in December but titles in My List and others that were expiring, and enjoyed a majority of them. Tonight: 'From the Rough'! --Josh

DeleteI'm always happy to hear the blog is accomplishing its goal of helping us all rest a little easier that we won't miss something we want to see. Glad you were able to make good use of it. What I like best about working on the blog is the sharing of time, effort, and resources from so many of you. Teamwork done well is an awesome thing, and makes me smile every day. Thanks for writing, Josh.
I see Top Gear, the British Version, with an expiration date of 2/1: https://www.netflix.com/title/70140457
ReplyDeleteIf it doesn't move to a British service, it could end up on Amazon given that they have The Grand Tour. Interesting.

DeleteThanks classicfilmbuffc.
