March 31 - Series New Note: Several of the series, below, are indicated by Netflix as having only SOME seasons expiring. Please submit all relevant Comments to the Current Expiring Titles post. Thank you.
Hi, Unknown - I don't see any expiring info on Call the Midwife on the Netflix website. I'm assuming your last day date is 4/3, which would mean the Available until 4/4 notice would be up today on My List. But it's not. Can you please share your source of this info, and clarify the last day to watch. Thanks.
I did some more checking on Call the Midwife. It is scheduled to expire in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, but not in the U.S. Exp. dates are 3/31, 3/23, 3/23, respectively. Perhaps your account is in one of these countries? This blog lists only those titles expiring from U.S. accounts. For our international readers, please consult uNoGS.com. There is a link in the sidebar.
For those of you interested, I found all the expiring 3/31 Fox/WB shows on hulu (except for House for some reason). That includes: Ally McBeal, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Roswell, and The X-Files. Strangely, I also found Robin Hood, but none of the other British shows.
It appears that neither uNoGS.com nor New On Netflix USA updated yesterday, or if they did, the capture failed. Neither site has anything for last day 3/14 except the series, which have been up for several weeks. According to Netflix, all the movies on our 3/14 list, above, ARE scheduled to expire. If there are other movies we haven't discovered yet, we'll have to wait until those sites capture them, which will hopefully be later today. If not, I'll send them some email to find out what's up.
In the meantime, if anyone has anything on their My List with an "Available until" date that doesn't show up on our list, please let us know. Thanks.
Thanks will g and Linklisa. I think I've just made a horrifying discovery - I'm not seeing the Availability notice on the details info page for titles - it only shows up on My List. This might explain why uNoGS isn't updated (I like Pox Voldius's theory much better).
Can someone confirm this, so I know I'm not losing my mind? Thanks.
It used to say it when you arrowed over to the right on the details page, correct? I'm looking there now on a couple of things and it's not showing for me either.
My browser is being goofy and not letting me respond directly to your comment, Carol, but I checked all of the TV shows and the one movie on my list that have expiration dates and do not see that information on the details page, either--only on My List and devices.
I still see an expiration date for it on the Netflix app on my phone and on Netflix's site if I add it to My List. Where are you looking that you no longer see an expiration date for it?
Thanks for writing, Anonymous. I'm going to leave it up as expiring, and hope everyone sees your comment so they can decide for themselves what to do about this discrepancy. I hope your Roku is correct. Even if people decide to bet that way, and then it does expire from Netflix, it will still be accessible somewhere, such as Hulu.
I'll keep a close eye to see if the Netflix status changes. Thanks again.
This should be interesting. I still see the 'Available Until 4/1/17' message on My List on my computer, but when I play an episode, I don't get the message in the top left corner of the screen that says "This episode available until 4/1/17." I do get that message with other expiring shows.
Netflix posted a video on their Facebook page saying that Angel, Buffy, Firefly, Roswell, and The X-Files are leaving. Netflix says the licenses are expiring on 4/1 and they will fall off the service. What that means for other expiring shows like House and Ally McBeal I have no idea...
Thanks, Brian. On the upside, Ken Burns: The West is back again - hope it stays for more than a day, this time. (No sign of Robert Redford's The West, though.)
As far as MaFt's site (New On Netflix USA), that site is fed by uNoGS.com, so I would anticipate that it would be running again within a couple of days.
Thanks Sarah. I wish Netflix would announce these partial series expirations in a way that didn't leave finding out about it so much to happenstance. Sometimes they will put it into the press release, but obviously, not this time. You would think with such a popular show, they would have.
Thankfully, I just made it into season 8 recently (I have been watching it for at least 9 months). Now I am trying to tear through the remaining episodes because I don't know when they will be pulled. I think I have 15 left.
Last night the "leaving April 1" box was on Buffy, and today it's not! I'm praying that it isn't a glitch and that they've renewed it. The box is still on Angel, though. And X-Files....sigh. Crossing my fingers for renewals...
SurveyTaker - what device/app are you using when you see Buffy with no expiring notice?
Theoretically, we would all see the same info, regardless of where we looked, but that is not always the case (see the X-Files discussion, above). Buffy still shows as expiring on My List on the Netflix website, which one would suppose would always be correct, but that's not true, either. We've had other conflicts of information in which the dissenting device/app turned out to be correct.
I guess the wise thing for anyone who doesn't want to miss any of the show's episodes is to assume it's going to expire. If there's not enough time to watch everything you want (is there ever?), each person will have to make the best decision they can for their own preferences. As frustrating as it is to have to struggle with this, I think we're still better off having a heads-up when there's a question as to what's really expiring. Thanks for sharing this one, SurveyTaker.

Thanks Tony, this kind of information is always welcome on this page, and I appreciate your sending the link to the article.
According to my smart TV, seasons 3-5 ARE scheduled to expire on 4/1, which, if the issue is licensing fees, kind of makes sense: 5 seasons too expensive? let's only renew 2. Do I trust that the whole show won't expire? No way. I wish exstreamist had quoted a Netflix source, and been more specific about some or all seasons. I also wish they had been more specific about the possibility of renewal - telling people to request that Bob's Burgers stays kind of indicates that renewal IS possible.
I will add seasons 3-5 of Bob's Burgers to the list, with a note that seasons 1-2 could also expire. Everyone can decide whether to take any chances. I'm hoping that perhaps the press release will address this issue.
Does anyone else have any info about Bob's Burgers, perhaps from a device/app or another publication?
3/31 Dollhouse - Season 1 only; season 2 doesn't show as expiring.
This is the third FOX series that has only some seasons expiring. (Bob's Burgers and Lie to Me are the others.)
As you know, when only some seasons are leaving, it doesn't show up on My List, and uNoGS.com is not able to capture it, either. The only way to find these is to click on one episode in every season of the show to see if there is an Available Until notice in the upper left-hand corner at the very beginning of the episode - the notice doesn't stay up long.
Please be on the lookout for these - there might be more.

This is a bit weird to me, since Netflix produced the fourth season. I would have thought when that happened, they retained the rights to the first three seasons, as well, but I saw it on another site (I don't remember which one) and the availability notice pops up on my XBox when I go to play these seasons.
Hi Melissa, I'm going to assume that Ghost Whisperer has reappeared for you. If not, let us know. I checked all five seasons, and everything looks solid - no expiration notices.
Found out that Bob's burger season 1 and 2 will expire on April 17th. Why so many shows at once. I wish they extent House there is no way to watch all 8 season in one month.
Thanks, Sharon. I'm seeing the availability notice on season 1 of Bob's Burgers, but not on season 2. Looking on both my computer and smart TV app. Can you tell us where you're seeing season 2, or heard about it? Netflix is so crazy with all the FOX expirations, now, that I'm having a hard time keeping track of everything.
Does anyone else have season 2 info? Reminder for everyone: Sharon's date is the actual expiration date. Last day to watch is April 16.
Sharon, I agree with you that it's hard to deal with so many great shows going away at the same time. This happens whenever a major contract expires, in this case, the one with FOX. I hope House will show up somewhere else where you can watch it.
BTW, it's great to see so many new contributors - welcome to all of you! Thanks for jumping in to help keep everybody as informed as possible. Welcome also to all readers new to the blog. There has been an almost 100% increase in readership over the last couple of months - so happy to have you here!
Thanks, will g. So great of you to get these for us. Re: Legit - the Availability notice on the top left corner of the screen agrees with the 2 different dates, so I will make the change to the list: 4/6: Legit - Season 2 4/9: Legit - Season 1
How that makes any dang sense at all, I do not know.
Re: Hero We'll know for sure which "Hero" is leaving on Sunday (3/26). My best guess is the 1997 movie, because it came to Netflix on Oct. 9, 2015, so the 4/9 expiration date would be exactly 18 months. But for now, I'll just put a note on the list, like I did for other duplicate title movies that we had to wait to clarify.
Thanks again, will g, and thank you for looking up the years - most appreciated!
Re: American Dad - I just looked at season 5, and there's a notice on it for availability until April 19 (last day 4/18). The press release has only season 6, with a last day to watch of 4/16 - and that availability notice shows up, too.
I don't know what's going on with all the different dates for different seasons. April Fools? Netflix has been hacked? I think we all need to be on alert that any of the FOX shows could have any or all of the seasons expiring anytime. For any show you want to see all of, check for the top-left-corner-of-the-screen notices on every season. Remember that it will only show each season's notice once a day, but if you change profiles, it will show it anew.
Honestly, I don't know if we can trust all those different notices - I'm fairly skeptical. The different dates for Legit are both on the press release, so that seems to make them sound, well, legit. But this all sounds kinda weird to me. I'm wishing us all good luck with this one.
Hi Btom, I'm sorry A Different World is gone, but we did get notice of it's expiration. Its last day to watch was 3/14. If you look at the previous post, you'll see it there. There's always so much expiring, it can be hard to catch everything.
This is the video that Netflix posted on their Facebook page announcing the removal of these shows: https://www.facebook.com/netflixus/videos/10154429464863870/
Everyone: I have copied Steve's comment to our Discussions & Ideas page, in case you would like to reply to it. There is a link to that page at the very bottom of this one - in the footer, and also at the top of the sidebar.
Strange. I can't get it on my iPad or iPhone (it isn't on any of My Lists) but it shows up when I search for the title on the Netflix app on my Roku. In general, I have been having trouble today adding and deleting titles from My Lists on my iPad, my iPhone and my Roku. Netflix is apparently aware of this problem, at least on my Roku since I get a message to try again later.
Oh, wow, the North & South thing is WEIRD. If I search for it, it does not come up. But, like Nica, I have it on My List, and it opens and plays from there. I tried it just now - all 4 episodes work.
Wellesley72, I apologize for not reading your comment carefully enough (the one that says, "Alas, N & S is gone.") I was really tired at that point, and just saw the two titles, and thought you were saying they were both renewed. Then I took a nap, and am just now seeing your question to me.
One way or another, Netflix screwed up. We'll see whether North & South goes all the way off, or they put it back on so it comes up when searched. I'm gonna bet on the second option, because of the other shows being renewed.
Last day 4/30 12 Years Promise (2014) - 1 season Apocalypse: World War II (2009) - 1 season China's Forbidden City (2008) - 1 season Secrets of the Third Reich (2014) - 1 season
Note: The last three are all Smithsonian Channel shows. I wouldn't be surprised if a contract is up. There are also some single-episode shows, but we won't know if they're leaving May 1 as well until 4/17.
I think "Netflix Live Canceled" was meant as NF's April Fools joke. The description on it is: "Netflix Live has been canceled. We miscalculated the number of people who like to binge-watch microwaves. Dave from analytics is in trouble." And it does have video that plays.
The following are all from the Foreign Film category:
4/9 Note: I think these 4/9 titles are all Nigerian films (as are some of the other films already on the list for this day, e.g., The Awakening). I couldn’t find most of these on RT or IMDb, but the ones I found, and the directors of others, are all from Nigeria. Broken (2013) Burning Bridges (2014) Confusion Na Wa (2013) Finding Mercy (2013) Finding Mercy 2 (2013) Forgetting June (2013) Keeping My Man (2013) Knocking on Heaven’s Door (2014) Lagos Cougars (2013) Lies Men Tell (2013) Mad Couple (2014) Mad Couple 2 (2014) Matters Arising (2014) Ties That Bind (2011)

I have sent email to uNoGS.com, asking if this will affect their ability to provide expiring titles. You all will be the first to know what they say.
My browser is being goofy and not letting me respond directly to your comment, Carol, but I checked all of the TV shows and the one movie on my list that have expiration dates and do not see that information on the details page, either--only on My List and devices.
ReplyDelete
DeleteThank you, Nica.
X-Files is no longer expiring...
ReplyDeleteI still see an expiration date for it on the Netflix app on my phone and on Netflix's site if I add it to My List. Where are you looking that you no longer see an expiration date for it?
DeleteI use a Roku and it no longer shows the expiration date...my other titles do tho...
DeleteWe shall see....
DeleteThanks for writing, Anonymous.
Deletei just started an episode tonight (march 15) and it gave the warning in the top left corner saying it expires. lucky i'm almost to season 9!

DeleteNetflix posted a video on their Facebook page saying that Angel, Buffy, Firefly, Roswell, and The X-Files are leaving. Netflix says the licenses are expiring on 4/1 and they will fall off the service. What that means for other expiring shows like House and Ally McBeal I have no idea...
uNoGS appears to be updating again.
ReplyDeleteKen Burn's The War is no longer streaming. On a side note, MaFt's website appears to be frozen with his last day of reports being March 12.
ReplyDelete
DeleteThanks, Brian.
And New on Netflix USA appears to be back today as well. Just in time with all the new entries, too.
DeleteI suspect that Ken Burn's West will be around for a few months, at least.
I noticed Agatha Christie's Poirot seasons 1-6 disappeared with no warning sometime today. Only showing season 7 and later.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Bummed!

DeleteThanks Sarah. I wish Netflix would announce these partial series expirations in a way that didn't leave finding out about it so much to happenstance. Sometimes they will put it into the press release, but obviously, not this time. You would think with such a popular show, they would have.
And I was just in season 3 AND it's not available on disk. So disappointed.
DeleteThankfully, I just made it into season 8 recently (I have been watching it for at least 9 months). Now I am trying to tear through the remaining episodes because I don't know when they will be pulled. I think I have 15 left.
DeleteLast night the "leaving April 1" box was on Buffy, and today it's not! I'm praying that it isn't a glitch and that they've renewed it. The box is still on Angel, though. And X-Files....sigh. Crossing my fingers for renewals...
ReplyDeleteBuffy still showing as expiring 1 April on mine.
Delete
DeleteSurveyTaker - what device/app are you using when you see Buffy with no expiring notice?

Top of the Lake - 1 Season (2013)
Surprised that one's going away as season two starring Nicole Kidman comes out soon.
DeletePlease Carol don't remove this it is an actual expired title.

Bob's Burgers is expiring. More info here http://exstreamist.com/netflix-is-removing-bobs-burgers-april-1st-heres-how-to-request-it-stays/
DeleteThanks Tony, this kind of information is always welcome on this page, and I appreciate your sending the link to the article.
Thanks again, Tony - good work!
DeleteP.S. *Last day to watch* for Bob's Burgers is 3/31.
ReplyDelete3/31
Dollhouse - Season 1 only; season 2 doesn't show as expiring.

DeleteThanks Jordan. This sounds pretty definitive. I cc'd your comment to the X-Files and Buffy threads, above.
Of course Netflix's warning that people have two weeks to watch 25 seasons went over about as well as Qwikster!
DeleteHulu still has those shows and they are not going anywhere.

ReplyDeleteArrested Development seasons 1-3
This is a bit weird to me, since Netflix produced the fourth season. I would have thought when that happened, they retained the rights to the first three seasons, as well, but I saw it on another site (I don't remember which one) and the availability notice pops up on my XBox when I go to play these seasons.
I don't see Ghost Whisperer on any of the lists. It has vanished from Netflix.
ReplyDeleteGhost Whisperer still shows up for me in my queue.
Delete
DeleteHi Melissa, I'm going to assume that Ghost Whisperer has reappeared for you. If not, let us know. I checked all five seasons, and everything looks solid - no expiration notices.
Found out that Bob's burger season 1 and 2 will expire on April 17th. Why so many shows at once. I wish they extent House there is no way to watch all 8 season in one month.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sharon.
DeleteDoes anyone else have season 2 info?

DeleteThanks, will g. So great of you to get these for us.
Re: Legit - the Availability notice on the top left corner of the screen agrees with the 2 different dates, so I will make the change to the list:
4/6: Legit - Season 2
4/9: Legit - Season 1
How that makes any dang sense at all, I do not know.
Re: Hero We'll know for sure which "Hero" is leaving on Sunday (3/26). My best guess is the 1997 movie, because it came to Netflix on Oct. 9, 2015, so the 4/9 expiration date would be exactly 18 months. But for now, I'll just put a note on the list, like I did for other duplicate title movies that we had to wait to clarify.
Thanks again, will g, and thank you for looking up the years - most appreciated!
You're quite welcome. Just more incredible incompetence for them not to specify which of two identical titles is expiring.

DeleteRe: American Dad - I just looked at season 5, and there's a notice on it for availability until April 19 (last day 4/18).
FYI the press release is out so you know what is leaving and coming to netflix.
ReplyDeletethe press release that customer service denies exists? it's already covered above
DeleteThey took off "A Different World" without notice!
ReplyDelete
DeleteHi Btom, I'm sorry A Different World is gone, but we did get notice of it's expiration.

Carol, I don't know where you are seeing North & South as renewed. It is not showing up on the iOS app on my iPad or iPhone.
ReplyDeleteIt is showing up on my iPhone and on Netflix as still on My List. I'm even streaming it now on my computer.
DeleteStrange.
Delete
DeleteOh, wow, the North & South thing is WEIRD.
North & South now shows up in a search.
DeleteLast day 4/30
ReplyDelete12 Years Promise (2014) - 1 season
Apocalypse: World War II (2009) - 1 season
China's Forbidden City (2008) - 1 season
Secrets of the Third Reich (2014) - 1 season
Note: The last three are all Smithsonian Channel shows. I wouldn't be surprised if a contract is up. There are also some single-episode shows, but we won't know if they're leaving May 1 as well until 4/17.
A few more Smithsonian titles for 4/30, probably incomplete:
DeleteAir Disasters (2012)
Civil War 360 (2013)
The Real Story (2010)
Also Smithsonian, 4/30
DeleteSpeed Kills (2014)
If you caught up with the first 4 seasons of Death in Paradise before it was renewed, they just added season 5.

ReplyDeleteI think "Netflix Live Canceled" was meant as NF's April Fools joke. The description on it is: "Netflix Live has been canceled. We miscalculated the number of people who like to binge-watch microwaves. Dave from analytics is in trouble." And it does have video that plays.
