Details About Offline Pages

************************************************************************************
IMPORTANT NOTICE - PLEASE READ
Some (not all) auxiliary pages are going to be offline for awhile for blog housekeeping.
Current Expiring Titles (main page) WILL REMAIN ONLINE - no interruptions, business as usual.
More details below.
*************************************************************************************

Pages that will remain online:
Current Expiring Titles
Discussions & Ideas
Complaints
DVD Discussions
Submit Titles - Guidelines
All archived pages, i.e., all expired titles pages, prior Discussions & Ideas pages, all other pages that have already been archived.

Pages that will be offline:
> All of the We Recommend pages. I have put up a temporary page in case anyone has a review/recommendation they'd like to share.
> Fox and FX Shows: This page is back online; link is under "Other Archives."
> FAQ/Resources
> Streaming services guide
> Disney Deal and Streaming Content
> New Rating System (Thumbs Up/Down)
> New Format for My List
Possibly others (I'll list these specifically when I take them offline.)
Note: I'm not going to change links in the sidebar, footer, or blog header, so there will be links that don't work. I'll work on the easy stuff first, and get as many links working again as I can.

How long will pages be offline?
This will vary. Some of the pages listed above probably just need to be archived, e.g., the Fox page. Others, such as the We Recommend pages, will need more thought, possibly revamping. Once I take a look at everything, I'll put more specific timelines up here.

Where should comments go that would normally go on an offline page?
Discussions & Ideas will work for just about anything. If you want to specify that a comment is intended for a specific topic on an offline page, I can move the comment when the page is available again. For We Recommend, there is a temporary page - link is in header and sidebar.

Thanks for your patience, everyone! Please feel free to ask questions or make comments below. Suggestions welcome.

  1. i think this is great and commend you for the seriousness with which you take this project, always wanting it to be the best resource it can be. let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

in the spirit of improvements, i noticed recently that some of the links in the footer and sidebar are in HTTP and others HTTPS. the HTTP ones forward to HTTPS, so if you are looking at upkeep, you could just change them to https:// (for readers, hover your mouse over the links; those without https:// are http:// even though they just begin with "expiringonnetflix.blogspot.com"...). additionally, your Discussions & Ideas pages don't have a browser subtitle like your other pages do.

i'm excited to see what's next for the blog! thanks for all of the years now of great work leading this!

    1. Thanks Travis. I'm not much of a techie, so I appreciate the http/https info. I'll tend to that as part of the clean-up. I did the D&I page the way it is for a unique look, but am not aware of how that might affect readers in all ways (again, the techie thing). How would having a regular title affect reader experience/make it better, or is it just a consistency thing? Thanks for your many contributions, Travis. The blog is much the better for them.

    2. i suppose it's both consistency and could help readers find the URL better in browser history or bookmarks. all of your other pages have a subtitle. this section just says the name of the blog, so if perusing through a list of several pages of this blog, it would require visiting or checking the address to locate. i would think an obvious subtitle is simply: Discussions & Ideas

    3. Okay; making it easier to find the page is a good reason to change. Hadn't thought of that. I'll need to edit the graphic so the title won't be redundant, so it will be awhile before I can get to this, but it's on the list now. Thanks for your help.

    4. just to be ultra clear, by browser subtitle i'm only referring to what the browser shows up top for what page you're on (or in your history). this is the place where you change "What's Expiring On Netflix Soon?: Current Expiring Titles for Netflix U.S.A." to "What's Expiring On Netflix Soon?: Expired Titles: January 2019". in my opinion, the graphic should remain unchanged. not everyone even notices the browser title.

  3. The "Home" link takes me to the "Expired Titles: September/October 2021" page. Apparently there is no way to get to the "Current Expiring Titles" page.

    1. See the temporary Home Page, comments on Discussions page, or new Current Expiring Titles List page (link at very top of sidebar, above the link you clicked to get to this page) for more info.
